Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was a weekend for laboring! We had hoped to go camping but due to the smoke and our endless list of projects we decided to stay home. Thankfully Monday it was cloudy and not blazing hot so we could get some outdoor things done. This weekend, in no particular order we...picked the garden and made spaghetti sauce, ran errands, mowed and cleaned up the yard, sprayed off the back house and patio, built Morgan's crib and set up her room (see previous post), rebuilt a frost-free hose bib, poured concrete and set a post for a clothes line, recycled a bunch of cardboard, and installed a new shower head. Among all that we still managed plenty of time to play with the cutest little girl...and a little relaxing.

Morgan's Room

After a multi-room shuffle we were finally able to build Morgan's crib! She's been ready to move into her own room for awhile now, but it's taken awhile to get these projects done. We'll take some pictures of the 'final' room projects once they're arranged and decorated, but here's some preliminary pictures of her room.

The crib was a gift from Brandon's parents and will convert into a toddler and ultimately a double-sized bed; the dresser was built by Heidi's grandpa for her mom and aunt when they were young, and then refinished by Heidi's mom; the rocking chair is an antique that was Heidi's great grandmother's; and the quilt and window valance was handmade by Heidi's mom (with some stitches of love by Heidi's aunt)! We're still working on decorating and organizing but at least it's functional.

Everyone asks how your baby is sleeping, and ours is a great sleeper! She started out going 3-4 hours between feedings overnight, then 5-7 hours, and now she's up to 8-10 hours most nights. We couldn't wake her to feed her if we wanted, but who wants to wake a perfectly sleeping baby anyway!

She slept in her own room last night for the first time! She slept well and woke up happy.

12 Weeks Old

Morgan turned 12 weeks old on Thursday. Time has flown by so quickly. It's amazing how fast she can change, even daily.

We bought her a floor mirror to encourage tummy time. Apparently it worked! She enjoys smiling at the cute girl in the mirror.

She also started rolling on her side! I turned around a couple nights ago to find her on her side, but thought it was accidental because she was trying to look at the TV upside down. However, ever since then she's been rolling more and more. The mirror further encourages it, as she tries to look at herself and the bugs. It's only a matter of time and she'll roll all the way over!

You don't say...

Morgan has been babbling more and it's cute how expressive she can be. She was talking to me while on the bed this afternoon. It's hard to capture good video because she gets distracted by the camera in her face, so excuse the poor videography and funny camera angle, especially on the first video...but you get the idea. :-)

In the last couple weeks Morgan has really been opening up her little fists and grabbing things. Yesterday I was putting things away in her closet and she was on the floor playing on her activity mat. I had my back turned and next thing I know there's music playing! She grabbed the ring on the ladybug and pulled hard enough to start the music. I then tried to get a video of it; she would grab the ring and pull but not quite hard  enough to start the music again. I had video anyway so thought I'd share. Being the first time I've uploaded video hopefully it works.
Working on tummy time. She was enjoying it, blowing bubbles and cooing.
Bubbles!

Sunday Best

We are 3 for 3 with Morgan at church. She's great about falling asleep just as the sermon is starting. The last two times she has woken up just as we got up to the alter for communion. So far it's just been wide eyes and a slight lip quiver, but thankfully no fussing. She's just waking up so Pastor can give her a blessing. :-)

Morgan will be baptized September 8th. We're excited to have family join us for that special day.

I love this cute outfit. The pansies and the lavender color make me think of Grandma B. I wish she was here to meet Morgan, but I'm sure she's smiling down on her.

Look at those cute chunky cheeks and legs!

Softball

Morgan now consumes our lives, rightfully so, but Mom and Dad have gotten some softball in this summer, and are introducing her to the game early. She attended her first softball game at 3 days old (although she watched through her eyelids), and saw Dad play on his first Father's Day (also through her eyelids). She saw Mom get back in the game at 7 weeks old, and was a trooper through a coed tournament this past weekend. We have met so many great people playing softball in Boise that we could not imagine giving it up. We enjoy the people we play with as much as the game itself!
